Fayetteville-Manlius Little League is home to some of the best Little League fields in Central New York. This is the result of countless hours of volunteer effort to groom and maintain these community assets. In order to make sure these fields remain in top condition, our field maintenance expert Mark Bright put together videos to address two of the most common issues coaches and parents face when helping to maintain the fields every season.
After every game, the home team is responsible for raking out the infield as this will help maintain a smooth, clean appearance, level out the field, loosen dirt, and remove cleat marks. If this nightly routine is done incorrectly, over time it can actually begin to cause more problems than it solves. Look at the following video.
Another nightly maintenance activity is to take care of our pitching mounds. This will allow our mounds to last the entire season and the pitchers to pitch comfortably and safely. This simple technique takes no time at all.
